Aims & Scope Statement
The Journal of Military Strategy and Defense Studies (JMSDS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding in the fields of military strategy, defense studies, warfare analysis, and security studies. Our mission is to provide a platform for rigorous academic research, critical analysis, and innovative thinking in military and defense-related disciplines.
Scope: JMSDS publishes original research articles, review papers, case studies, and theoretical analyses covering military strategy and tactics, defense policy and planning, warfare analysis and history, weapons systems and technology, international security studies, cyber warfare and information operations, military logistics and operations research, defense economics and resource management, military ethics and international law, counterterrorism and asymmetric warfare, military innovation and technology transfer, and defense industry and procurement.
Readership: Military professionals and strategists, defense policy makers and analysts, academic researchers in security studies, military historians and theorists, defense industry professionals, graduate students in military and security studies, and international relations scholars.
Publication Criteria
JMSDS considers original, unpublished manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of military strategy and defense studies. We do not accept:
- Multiple submissions of the same manuscript
- Redundant publications or duplicate content
- Previously published material without proper attribution
- Manuscripts under review elsewhere
Authorship Criteria: All authors must have made substantial contributions to the research and writing. Ghost authorship and guest authorship are not permitted.
The journal name is unique and not confused with any existing publication. It clearly identifies the journal's focus on military strategy and defense studies without misleading associations.
Peer Review Process
Review Policy
All manuscripts submitted to JMSDS undergo rigorous double-blind peer review. The peer review process is defined as obtaining advice on individual manuscripts from reviewers expert in the field who are not part of the journal's editorial staff.

1. Initial Screening: Editorial office reviews for scope, format, and basic quality
2. Editor Assignment: Senior editor assigns appropriate handling editor
3. Peer Review: Minimum 2 independent expert reviewers
4. Editorial Decision: Based on reviewer recommendations and editorial judgment
5. Revision Process: Authors may be invited to revise and resubmit
6. Final Decision: Accept, reject, or request major revisions
Review Timeline: 4-6 weeks for initial review, 2-3 weeks for editorial decision

Misconduct Identification
JMSDS takes reasonable steps to identify and prevent publication of papers involving research misconduct, including:

Misconduct Handling
Following COPE guidelines, JMSDS will:
1. Investigate allegations promptly and thoroughly
2. Contact relevant institutions and authors
3. Retract articles when misconduct is confirmed
4. Maintain transparency in all actions
5. Report to appropriate authorities when necessary
